Student Competition 2021

RISE are running a UK-wide competition for all final year undergrad and masters student projects, in the area of hardware & embedded systems security.

Competition Details

When is the competition running?

The competition is running during the 2020-2021 academic year (to qualify your project will have been completed between 1st Sep 2020 and 30th Sep 2021). Here are the important dates;

1st July 2021: Competition portal opens for registration and submissions.

30th Sep 2021: Deadline for entries for final year UG and MSc students.

Dec 2021: Winners of competition announced at RISE Conference, website, and social media channels.

Who can enter the competition?

Competition is open to all final year undergrads and MSc students attending any UK university. The project theme needs be related to the fields of hardware or embedded systems security.

What do I need to do to enter?

All you need to do is register via the link above, and then fill in an abstract and summary of your project (max. 5k words), along with any supporting collateral e.g. images, videos, or links (all entered via a single submission page).

The platform allows for registration and subsequent multi-session updates of the content in draft form, until you’re happy for the final submission. So, even if you’re still work-in-progress, you can register today to get started!

Is the Competition Sponsored?

Yes, the competition is sponsored by Arm®, who have kindly contributed towards the prize fund and supply of some free Arm-based development boards. Winning an Arm sponsored competition would certainly help make your CV stand out!

How will the competition be judged?

An independent judging panel will be appointed to determine the winning entries.

What are the Prizes?

We will be offering prizes for entrants to the competition and at this stage can guide on the main prizes to be offered.

1st Prize: Your choice of MacBook Air or Surface Book 3, plus £250 Amazon Voucher

2nd Prize: Your choice of iPAD Air or Surface Laptop Go, plus £150 Amazon Voucher

3rd Prize: Apple Watch SE, plus £100 Amazon Voucher
